La Loucciola for the win! Lovingly coined “La Looch” this gem is perched right on the edge of the beach. It is an enormous open, thatch-roofed dollhouse-like building, with dining on two levels, and is the ultimate Bali breakfast experience. If we were holidaying we would stroll up over the dune in our bikinis after a morning walk along the beach, we would ask to be seated upstairs to make the most of the view and the Bali breeze… but Saben-style, we rock up to the car park next to the Petitenget Temple, walk over the footbridge and order breaky before our butts even hit the chairs. We know the menu by heart. La Looch have a weekend brunch menu so going on a Sunday is imperative. Start off with a banana and passionfruit granita.( It needs to be noted that we have moved on since the last trips winning flavour of lychee and lime). Order the double cooked pancake with mango compote and mascarpone or even the fruit melody with its yoghurt-mouse-pistachio composition of happiness. Simply divine. AND in all seriousness, they have the BEST hash browns we have ever had in our lives and the bacon would act temptress to even the staunchest vegetarians, it really is that good. The service is faultless, always attentive but not in-your-face and there sarong-clad semi-traditional uniform is one of the smartest around. This trip we were spoilt enough to have 2 Sundays! If your booking your holiday – I would suggest you follow suit, once is just not enough.
