The Saben Story

Originally a Sydney-sider, Roanne Jacobson started Saben in New Zealand out of her parent’s garage in 2002. Our visionary Saben founder, designer and creative director, brings to the brand a philosophy of intelligent design, impeccable craftsmanship, and a genius eye for timeless style.

Drawing inspiration from her grandmother, Sarah Saben - an indomitable woman and style icon in her own right - Roanne's designs are all about the transformative and empowering power - not to mention joy - of well-chosen accessories.

We take caring for people and the planet very seriously.

Our manufacturing partners are an extension of the Saben team - they are our long term partners and have been working with founder Roanne Jacobson since 2015.

We currently work with two small family-run factories in Guangzhou to produce our limited collections each year. Both factories source leather from tanneries which are LWG (Leather Working Group) Gold Standard certified, and undergo regular independent auditing.

All product packaging is made from FSC (Forest Steward Council) certified responsibly sourced paper which is recyclable or biodegradable. We also have a coveted Giveback Program that rewards our community for making their Sabens part of a responsible circular economy, while simultaneously raising money for charity.

Our ultimate goal is to create precious, timeless pieces which remain beloved treasures in your customers’ wardrobe, while minimising our impact on the environment.
