As the seasons change, we find inspiration in the world around us, and this Spring/Summer, SABEN's Aqua Aura collection invites you to dive into the serene beauty and healing power of the ocean.
Founder and Creative Director Roanne Jacobson has crafted a collection that embodies a balance of contemporary and timeless elements, reflecting her signature design aesthetic. Inspired by the ocean’s sensory beauty, Aqua Aura evokes introspection with a colour palette transitioning from aqua and deep-sea blues to bronzes and silvers that reflect light on water, incorporating the timeless tones of organic seacoasts. Each piece in this collection celebrates the movement of waves and the tranquillity of open water, inviting wearers to embrace a peaceful state of mind.
The calming influence of blue hues, revered for their ability to foster relaxation and introspection, is at the heart of Aqua Aura. From the serene skies above to the depths of the ocean, blue has long been cherished in colour therapy for its tranquil qualities. In today's uncertain world, finding moments of peace, particularly through nature, feels more important than ever.
The rhythmic motion of waves and the organic beauty of coastal and underwater landscapes are thoughtfully captured in the Aqua Aura collection’s design. Wide weaving patterns mirror the ocean’s surface, while tight weaving techniques symbolise the interconnectedness of marine life. Hero styles such as Matilda and Big Sis Woven exemplify this intricate craftsmanship, requiring up to 12 hours to handcraft. This labour of love offers a meditative wearing experience, with each piece serving as a symbolic pocket of calm, allowing you to carry a sense of tranquillity wherever you go.
In keeping with SABEN's enduring commitment to people and place, we are proud to donate 1% of sales from the first two weeks of the Aqua Aura collection launch to Sustainable Coastlines, a New Zealand-based charity dedicated to protecting our moana (oceans) for future generations.
This organisation unites communities to combat plastic pollution, aiming to reduce coastal litter by 60% by 2030 through clean-up events, educational programs, public awareness campaigns, and their Litter Intelligence initiative. Since 2009, Sustainable Coastlines volunteers have removed over 1.8 million litres of litter from Aotearoa’s coastlines, contributing to healthier ecosystems and fostering enduring positive change.
The ocean’s beauty inspired our Aqua Aura collection, and it is very important to us to do our part in preserving these natural wonders.
